Parts of a Flower

Pollination and Fertilisation The pollen carries the DNA of the male parent plant, and is held in pollen sacs on the anthers. Pollination is the depositing of the pollen onto the stigma of the female plant. The pollen grain then grows down the style and fuses with the ovules in the ovary. The ovules carry the DNA of the female parent plant. The seed is therefore a new individual with genes from both the male and female parent plants.
