Cosmos bipinnatus is a very popular flower for summer bedding. It forms neat feathery bushes a couple of feet tall, sometimes up to four feet, with large daisy flowers in shades from white through pink to maroon, with yellow centres. Modern varieties come with single or double flowers, picotee edges, and even furled petals in the variety 'Seashells'.
